March 5. A little after noon. “Button, it’s time you took a bath and got ready to welcome your guests.
And here’s the crimson scarf I promised to lend you.”
March 3. “Button, were you just pissing out of the window?”
“No, no— is that how you think of me? Would I do something like that?”
March 2. I was in the study at 7 to lay out the yoga mats and gave Button a tight hug.
When I went back later to the study, he came to me with a sad face and declared—
