Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.
March 8. “Button, you have not wished any of the ladies in this house.”

March 8. “Button, you have not wished any of the ladies in this house.”

“Obviously I am not aware of something!”

“Today is Women’s Day and since this home has more women than men, you should have made a note of it in your diary.”

“I am extremely sorry. I’ll make a note of it right away. Does this SPECIAL day always fall on March 8?”

“Are you being sarcastic?”

“Sarcastic! Not at all.”

“I’m not too sure either but I’ll google it right away and let you know so you can make a note of it.”

“Can I enter it in my diary now?”

“Yes, Women’s Day is celebrated the world over on the same day—which is March 8.  Now come here and give me a hug—I want to show you something.”

“I’ll give you a million hugs.”

“Come and have a look at this beautiful clip I cut out only to show you. What does the caption say?”

Ma tujhe salaam.”

“This lady is taking care of her baby because there is no-one at home to look after her and, at the same time, working for a living. Ramiya is six months old and blissfully asleep perhaps because of the lullaby from the passing trains. That’s the lullaby she’s used to! Does Sharda, the mother, even know that today is International Women’s Day? Will her life be any better for it?”

“That’s the big question.”
