What are you even talking about?

The rejigging of a towel, Button!

Can you please use simpler words? What does rejigging of a towel even mean? And why are we talking about a towel! It’s just a length of cloth all of us use to dry ourselves with.

You’re absolutely right, Button. A towel is something that is used to dry anything that’s wet.

Are we then writing about something extraordinary the humble towel has accomplished? Because, for me, a towel is still a piece of cloth with which I dry myself!

The towel acquired fame after Salman Khan’s famous towel dance “Jeene ke hain chaar din” from the film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Whenever the song is played at parties, people are quick to imitate Salman’s towel dance!

I’m not getting the point! I mean Salman may have danced to a song with a towel but so what!

Think, Button. Besides drying anything wet, how has a towel earned a significant place in our home lately?

Nah! Don’t know!

One more clue: What is that one thing where we are not using a towel to dry something that’s wet?

Are you talking about Mojo and her towel companion?

Absolutely!

Very cleverly thought out by chotididi. That harness suggested by the doctor could have broken the strongest back given Mojo’s weight but this idea works brilliantly. Have you seen the bliss on Mojo’s face when she is positioned on the towel and dragged to the terrace so she can relieve herself? She puts aside the immense pain she’s currently in—because of her hip collapse and the acute arthritis—and looks forward to that ride to the terrace sitting regally on the towel. It’s difficult to figure whether it’s the relieving or the ride she’s looking forward to! Incidentally, Mojo is our Labrador aged 13 which makes her 91 years old by human standard. She is actually the oldest member in our family!

I have seen the bliss on her face and a wee smile at the corner of her mouth.

Remember the times when Dost would take her out for car rides after coming back from work and how she’d prop herself up, lean out of the car window and breathe in the fresh air with her ears going flap, flap, flap! She’d bark at passing cars and enjoy every moment of that outing? Those days have gone because she is many years older and the hip problem and severe arthritis affecting her joints have made her totally immobile.

The towel plan also cuts down the stress she has in her head of slipping and hurting herself. Another song “Aaja meri gaadi me baith ja” comes to mind because I distinctly see Mojo inviting me to join her on the towel! And there’s a lot of space for the both of us because the towel is huge! How does the gaadi song go?
