January 22. “I read a very strange piece in the TOI a few days back. The whole article was in praise of idleness! Can you believe it?”
“And why not? When people were idle, they praised hard work and shoved it down our throats and, now that people are working 18-20 hours a day and killing themselves, they come out and say it’s no good working so hard.”
“There is this television show which is all about how one should buy a lottery ticket, put his legs up and chill. And if you win the lottery, so much the better—you can chill some more till that money runs out!”
“The world is going crazy.”
“My younger daughter is the coolest amongst us. She thinks we are all mad to follow everything we read in the newspapers. Her sister and I are the biggest suckers especially about what we should eat and what we should avoid. Her theory is that one must do what one is comfortable doing. If you are comfortable eating salads, then eat the salad. Why must you wait for someone to tell you what is good or bad for you and what you must follow?”
“She has a point. After all your body craves for certain types of food and hates certain things at other times. Just follow what your heart and body tells you to do and you can never go wrong.”
