Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

Flash Post 51!

“Button, if you are around somewhere, watch this video showing the murmuration of starlings. It’s fascinating and I wish I was one of them doing those acrobatics up in the sky! Don’t you?

Don’t you want to know what starling murmuration is? Well, a flock of starlings is called a murmuration. These flocks may include other species of starlings and sometimes species from other families. This sociality is particularly evident in their roosting behaviour and, in the non-breeding season, some roosts can number in thousands of birds.

You may want to know if the starlings collide with each other while forming these fascinating patterns in the sky! Well, the answer is a big NO! Not even a single bird. They all weave in and out and out and in and then in and out again and again and again without colliding even once!

How awesome and fascinating is that!”
