Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

Button, chotididi was so accurate when she mentioned that the Bhahmakamal is not only a flower but a flower that’s in a league of its own. It is royal. It is unique. You can also safely say that it has an attitude. As you are aware, a tiny bud appears on a shoulder of a leaf and keeps getting bigger and bigger keeping its head down all the while till the time is ripe for it to bloom. It then raises its head and opens up into one of the prettiest flowers I have seen–White, pure and one of a kind with a fragrance that’s mesmerising. It blooms only once a year–that too at a fixed time which is around September/October. Have you also noticed the thick vein that runs through the leaf and connects with the bud which is where it possibly gets its nourishment from?

Yes, I’ve seen that.

Should we go ahead and make the announcement?

Goes without saying!

Well, friends, we have one more Brahmakamal about to bloom to its fullest in, perhaps, the next couple of days! Out of season but it’s happening! A Brahmakamal is about to bloom in our terrace garden in mid-January which is nothing short of a miracle!

Many of our readers will write in to say that we are blessed which, indeed, we are. Here’s an image of the last Brahmakamal that bloomed on the same plant last October.
