Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

Button, do you like everything aplenty or do you like frugality?

What does aplenty mean? And frugality?

Well, aplenty means having too much of everything and frugality means just the opposite which is just about having enough of everything.

I like having just about enough of the things I need. I don’t see the point of possessing too much of something which I will never get down to using.

Point noted. I too like it that way but, often, you don’t have a hand in it because loved ones keep gifting more clothes, more shoes, more handbags, more jewellery and more of everything. Out of love, mind you or, most times, because he or she forgot the occasion and hurriedly went and purchased a gift. And there comes a time when you are drowned with too much of everything which you may not use in your lifetime.

You’re so right. But that can be resolved by giving away freely.

You can give but how much! When you want to give, you are reminded of that particular occasion or incident when you were presented with something by a loved one and you hold that object close to heart and find it difficult to part with.

I understand exactly what you are saying but that is also the only way out. For how long will you hold on to things that are dear to you, especially material things? People come and go which is the most heart-breaking so why would you consider holding on to material things? Give. Give with a large heart. They are, after all, material things. The joy of giving is joy that is unexplainable, even if there is no gratitude from the receiver. And never, never, expect something of the receiver.

Wise. Wise, Button. I am proud of you.
