What Fun! | Flash Post 345

It’s circular. It’s usually made of plastic. It’s lightweight and great fun to play with. Acrobats use these to perform in circuses. Button, three guesses as to what I am talking about.

I’ll get that one for sure.

I’ll give you one more clue to make it easier for you: It comes in varied colours.

Is it a ball?

No, Button. Try guessing again.

But a ball is round, hollow inside and made of plastic, lightweight and something to play with. Acrobats use a ball to perform in circuses and it comes in many hues. Why can’t it be a ball?

I’ll give you a further clue that differentiates it from a ball. It’s a thin circular pipe that can be made to twirl around the user!

I don’t have the slightest idea! What exactly are you talking about?

I’m talking about a hula hoop.

A what hoop?

A hula hoop. It’s circular and the space within the hoop is empty. It’s made of plastic. It’s lightweight. Acrobats use it to entertain circus-goers and it comes in different colours.

What do you normally do with a hula hoop?

You put it through your head or pull it up front m below so the hoop is at waist level.  You then clutch it with both hands, let go while twirling it up and down your mid-torso with the help of your hips.

So this hula hoop is more like a car tyre but while a car tyre is heavy and black, the hula hoop is light in weight and comes in different colours.

Correct.

Why are you suddenly, at ten minutes to midnight when I am very sleepy, telling me about a hula hoop!

Because it suddenly came to mind and I felt like telling my closest friend, who happens to be you, about one of the games I played as a kid.

So you twirled this plastic hoop round and round your hips but what next?

We would time ourselves to see how long we could keep the hula twirling. We had to keep going or else it would fall to the ground and, if you happened to be in a competition, you’d be counted out.

Why was it a fun game?

Because it was great fun and a great exercise for the waist though I can’t say that I was really keen on a 20-inch waist like Audrey Hepburn at that young age! I was doing it for the fun. You should try it sometime to lose some weight from your waist.

Don’t you make fun of my waist. I have a perfectly good waistline.

Then try it out for the fun.
