May 23. “Story time, Button. Are you ready?”

“Absolutely. Let’s get started.”

Pippa stayed with the family for almost a week before suddenly disappearing one fine morning. Every member of the family looked all over for her but she was gone.

When they had almost given up thinking that Pippa had, perhaps, met with some kind of an accident, she suddenly arrived in all her glory, her tentacles held high as if in salute.

Pippa stayed with the family for a few more days before disappearing again.

It was only then that we realized that, may-be, she was going back and forth between her family home and Raja who, in a sense, was her true friend.

  We were very sad when she disappeared the first time but after she reappeared and kept going back and forth, we got used to her absence.

Pippa may be in a fix. She must be having a very busy schedule flitting between her family home and Raja!

I wish we could know how Raja too feels about this. Does he feel sad when Pippa leaves? Or is he taking it well, thinking that she has to meet her own family too

  I always felt Raja was a loner but had a couple of unusual friends, Pippa being one of them. We never got down to asking Raja how he felt every time Pippa visited us but may have, at some stage, got adjusted to Pippa’s periodic absence.

There are many instances when we have to choose between two very difficult situations in life. The consequences should be thought of very well, and accordingly the decision should be made.

  Sometimes, in fact often, even after working out the consequences in our heads, that decision misfires. But that’s a gamble we have to take of any decision we make.
