June 6. “Did you like the movie we watched last night, Button?”
“You mean Everybody’s Fine?”
“What other movie did we see but that?”
“It was a simple and nice story. Something that happens in most families. De Nero was fantastic. He carried the movie on his shoulders.”
“I liked it too because I stayed awake throughout the movie. My elder daughter actually asked the DVD lending library to send a romcom and this is what they sent instead.”
“What’s a romcom?”
“A romantic comedy.”
“But this wasn’t a romantic comedy!”
“No, it wasn’t. Some slip-up, I guess, on their part.”
“Julie and Julia was also a smart film.”
“I loved the concept but it looked too dowdy. Do you know what I mean?”
“Meryl Streep was too good.”
“I saw a film of hers years back called The French Lieutenant’s Woman. That’s one more film I clearly remember till this day. Scene by scene.”
“And Mamma Mia, the Movie?”
“She was mind-blowing. And that energy she exuded? And, that too, at her age!”
“What’s age got to do with anything. Like Dost says—age is in the mind. It’s just a number! You’re as young or old as you think.”
