July 14. “Button, I just have to deviate from our story and tell you about how great a city Mumbai is.”
“Why, what’s so great about Mumbai now?”
“I was standing at our kitchen window and admiring the torrential rains but, apart from this, the other thing I noticed was the fact that like every other day, a huge number of cars were honking away, perhaps to drop off their children to school amd take off for work from there.”
“And?”
“And the energy and the will to move on in life and not make it come to a standstill under any circumstance is marvellous. Today being the day after the triple blasts shook Mumbai, one feels as if nothing happened yesterday! A favourite song of mine—Nothing Comes from Nothing sung by Julie Andrews in the blockbuster, The Sound of Music, came to mind this morning. It goes like this—Nothing comes from Nothing, nothing ever could, so somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good: I must have done something good to be living in a city like Mumbai.”
“I just saw the news and was really shocked to find people who were hurt and bleeding lend a helping hand to help others injured in the same blast.”
“Nothing, absolutely nothing stops this city from moving ahead. She’s simply amazing.”
