“Button, why have we suddenly become so pessimistic! And it’s not only me I’m talking about. Almost anybody I meet and discuss something with has that touch of pessimism. A hint of sadness.

I’ll tell you what sparked that hint of pessimism in me this morning: I was reading in one of the newspapers that the tiger count of these beautiful animals has gone up by 30% and that made me feel good. And then, my jaws dropped! Was that true–I asked myself– or was that just a number to make the reader and animal conservationists happy!

And this is not related to tiger counts only. Any bit of news I read is taken with a pinch of salt as I’m not absolutely sure whether that is true, partly true or totally untrue!

This is not a nice feeling.”
