Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

Button, remember Pippa, our snail friend, who came to live with us for sometime and kept running away again and again to meet up with his friend, Raja, the stray? Raja’s no more. Maybe he’s met up with his other friends Shabby, Puchku and Dushtu somewhere up there! Where the twinkling stars are!

Getting back to what I actually wanted to share with you– wherever you may be– are some very interesting stuff on snails I just read. It seems a Brit first let loose the first pair of snails in Chowringhee in Calcutta way back in 1847 and, even if they took time, they have now taken over Delhi’s historic Ridge and have spread havoc across many other parts of the country. They can grow up to 8 inches long and are amongst the top 100 invasive species in the world and have a varied and voracious appetite that include 500 varieties of plants, concrete (yes, concrete) which they require for their shells and even each other.

Recollect the stories we put together? They’re coming up…
