“Button, Kottarapattu Chattu Kuttan: three guesses what this is!
Some regional recipe–no! The name of a place in India– no! A botanical name for a kind of tree/plant– a big NO!
You’re wrong on all three counts. He’s the legendary hotel doorman who served world leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Richard Nixon, Lord Mountbatten, Princess Elizabeth and Emperor Hirohito, at the famous Galle Face Hotel in Colombo. He joined the institution at the age of 17, served it for 72 years and breathed his last on Tuesday.
It’s the name I found interesting and hence this post. As well as the dedication bit.
Do such dedicated people like him exist any more!
May his soul rest in peace.”
