It’s December 31, 2017.

Do you realise that this is one more day we won’t be seeing or living again?

I do.

It’s been quite a year– in politics with note-ban then GST. With BJP winning the Gujarat state elections by a narrow margin and with Congress putting up a brave fight. Sports saw women’s cricket come to the fore plus so much more…

You’ve had quite a year of upheavals. I only hope the new year changes things for you and have you live a more normal and peaceful year.

Yes, first the depression and then the anxiety attacks which have shaken me up and continues to shake me up quite a bit. But I alone can make things change for myself and I intend to put up a fight to change the current situation for the better. Happy New Year, Button. Love you.

Dear Author, what a lovely post. It is commendable that you have publicly come out with your health issues. Cudos to you, Deepika Padukone, Anupam Kher, Parineeti Chopra and the many others who have come out openly and are talking about this. It can only help you and those who are going through the same thing. Hats off and here’s to a fabulous 2018 for you and your family! We love you..!!

Is that why you have not been regularly writing for us? I have been wondering where you have vanished to. Infact I had even posted a comment many weeks ago about how you may have lost interest in your blog. Sorry about that author. I now understand..good to have you back and writing. It really makes our day..

  It also makes me feel wonderful when I write a blog post. I am extremely ashamed that I have not been writing regularly because of my depression that struck around April of last year. I am very much around and will try and start writing again as often as I can.
  
  Please bear with me till I become as frequent a blogger as I used to be a year back.

Meri ma isi pehelu se guzar rahi hai..2015 ko unko depression hua aur thank god hum sab ko ye laga ki humein unko doctor ke pass leke jaana chahiye..unka treatment jab se shuru hua aur aaj tak woh na sirj apne aap ko sambhal paayi hai par poore parivar ka khyal wohi rakhti hai..she is very strong. Jitne bhi aurat and mard is hadse ko jhel chuke hai, mera unko salaam and yeh nayi ssal aap logon ko aur bhi khushi and saahas de..jai hind..

  How is your mother now? Has she recovered completely? Depression struck me last year and, though I am out of it now, I get serious anxiety attacks. God willing, that too shall pass!

Wow. Thank you for bringing it up here author. It is so heartening to see that people with depression are not embarrassed of themselves anymore. This is the miracle of changing times and progressive mindsets. It is like any other condition, be it Diabetes or Thyroid. One can always come back from it stronger. Maybe different but definitely stronger. Embrace yourself because you are beautiful and will always be beautiful person. Happy New Year to our favourite blogger in the whole wide world!!!

  After staying quiet for so long, I felt like sharing my condition with my blog friends. It just struck me that, maybe if I spoke about it openly, I would feel a lot lighter and, maybe, it would lend courage to people in a similar condition to share their thoughts with me!

Most people associate depression with women. It is not true. I am 54 years old and they say it is more difficult for men to come out of it. I am almost back to being my 100% earlier self today. It is a difficult yet enlightening journey. There are good days and not so good days. Learn to embrace both. It does NOT change you in a bad way. It only makes you stronger and allows you to get in touch with your inner self.

  I don’t really know if depression is associated more with women than men but, I’m also told that if depression hits men, it could be a lot worse. I am very happy for you now that you’ve almost totally recovered. I also agree with you that it is an enlightening journey with some good days and other not so good days but one learns to accept and deal with both.

Hello author, this is one of your most endearing posts. I wish other writers and bloggers were as real and honest as you have been with your readers. I have never experienced anything like this but I have read a lot about it and they say that one can come back back stronger and more determined as a person. Do you feel like depression has changed you? In a good way?

  Well, yes, going through this chapter of my life has helped me, in a sense, feel stronger, more confident and self-assured. Of-course, there are days when I feel anxious over nothing but they, too, pass with love from my family and some effort from my side.

how difficult was it? and how did you cope with it? my sister has been having severe mood swings and she keeps going quiet and doesn’t talk or even eat well and she is just 34. she doesn’t sleep well and wakes up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat…she was in a bad relationship. is this depression?? she doesn’t talk to us… please help author because we are clueless as to what to do as her family..any doctor that we can go to??

  I can’t say it was easy. Medication, therapy and constant love and understanding from family members helped me cope. I think the symptoms are the symptoms of depression.

Such is life author. My wife is a patient of depression and has been a regular visitor to therapy sessions. Take it from me, therapy is better than any medication. Especially with the right support from family and doctors. So proud that you have been able to fight your way through this and that you’re now openly talking about it. We need more people like you to come to the forefront. There s a lot of comfort in knowing that we are not alone.

  I think medication and therapy both go hand in hand for someone to come out of this situation. Family support is also crucial.
  
  Writing about my depression and putting it up on the blog was my way of letting my readers know why I hadn’t written in a while. I was surprised by their response: They were sympathetic, understanding and wished me a quick recovery so I could get back to writing again.
