Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

Flash Post 250!

Button, I realise it’s been a while since we posted something for our friends who visit this blog.

It’s been a long, long while but you’ve not been in the pink of health so I guess it’s ok.

You know our stray friend Ugly– don’t you?

Of-course I do. She’s the one who stays under the bus shelter near the Peddar Road gas station.

You’re right.

And her other name is Bestie because she’s made this BEST bus shelter her home.

Right again.

Ugly or Bestie– whatever name you choose to call her by– has befriended a kitten. When we first set eyes on them, we felt they would not get along  because, traditionally, dogs and cats have never got along.

That’s interesting.

The kitten was tiny and scraggy and tottered to eat the food we’d given to Ugly. This didn’t please Ugly initially and he would growl to chase the kitten away but the kitten was unafraid. She would move away a little but get back to the food repeatedly.

And?

They are friends now. Both have made this bus shelter their home and sit huddled together on rainy days and watch the world go by. When we put down the food packet, both walk up and eat side by side. Ugly doesn’t growl any more in fact he gives way for the kitten to eat alongside him. It seems as if Ugly has chosen to be her guardian.

That is so beautiful. Does this kitten have a name?

We call her Mimi.
