Flash Post 206!
Button, you must have heard of human beings being tried in court for committing condemnable acts like murder, theft, rape, etc.
Yes I have.
But have you ever heard of animals being tried in court?
Animals? Tried in court for what exactly?
For committing an act that humans think they should be punished for.
Are you serious?
For instance, a monkey believed to have crossed the border from India to Pakistan in 2011 was arrested. It was later taken to a zoo and held there!
You’re kidding me!
Hear me out, Button. In another instance, 3 out of 12 goats were arrested for having damaged a police vehicle. The dozen climbed onto the brand new vehicle and damaged the wipers and windshield, thereby scratching the vehicle badly. They were held in a cage and later released to the SPCA. Another case had a goat arrested for eating flowers. When the goat was produced in court, the magistrate dismissed the case for lack of evidence!
This is weird.
Again, in Mexico, a donkey was detained for kicking two men and kept in the same cell where people who drink and drive and cause similar disturbances are held. The donkey was released once the owner agreed to pay for the treatment of the men.
This is getting more and more bizarre. Do you have any more in stock?
In 2010, Indian police held a pigeon which was believed to have flown in from Pakistan and was arrested for spying. There was a ring around the bird’s leg and a Pakistani phone number and address stamped on his back with red ink. It was later released when both the phone number and address drew a blank.
I am astounded. This means I should be on my best behaviour when I go jay-walking. I could get arrested for some act they feel is an offence!
Anything is possible.
