Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

February 7. “Button, the dividing line between perfection and obsession is so blurred that I fail to understand the difference between the two.

You’re praised if you do something to perfection yet, the minute perfection becomes an obsession, it turns into an illness. As you may be aware, that illness is called OCD which stands for obsessive compulsive disorder. Do you understand any of this?”

“Honestly, I don’t.”

“Some well-known OCDs were Howard Hughes, Freud, Lady McBeth, Judas Iscariot.”

“And what are you?”

“I am told by everyone in the family that I suffer from this disorder and that I should correct myself before it gets worse. Do you know that our first pet, Magic, made an entry into our home with the sole intention of curing me of this illness. I mean, this is what I was told. The family, especially Dost, felt that getting a pet home who would, perhaps, mess up things, would cure me of my OCD! Aren’t we taught from childhood to be perfect? At what point does perfection cross over into becoming an obsession? What if you are obsessed over a person? Would that obsession be an illness? Or would it be love?”

“I am totally confused. I am sorry but I haven’t the faintest idea. I thought you went to sleep early on Sundays!  It’s almost 11.30 and you’re still on the computer. Go to sleep.”

“Goodnight, Button. Don’t you like the discussions we have?”

“I love them.”
