Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

August 1. 9pm. “I am soaking wet. I’ll go and quickly change before dinner.”

“Now you know the difference between the earlier walk in the rain and this one, Button?”

“This was the real thing. The real walk in the rain. But it was scary.”

“Leave aside the scary bit, did you enjoy yourself?”

“I definitely did. If these waves were scary, I can well imagine what tsunamis are like.”

“I’ve seen pictures of tsunamis where waves are hundreds of metres high. And anything in comparison—like people, vehicles, trees—appear tiny.”

“How is it possible for anybody to click tsunamis? Any one confronting them would be washed away!”

“That’s true. Nevertheless, I’ve seen some pictures.”

“I liked Up In The Air. Did you?”

“Loved it. It’s a story very simply told. No frills. No larger-than-life situation. Just a simply story simply told.”

“I know what you are thinking. Just don’t ask.”

P.S. When I asked Dost how this movie turned out to be such a hit when it was a no-frills movie, he told me that it worked only because of George Clooney. Without him, the movie would have fallen flat on its face.
