Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

April 7. “Button, today is World Health Day.”

“What does that mean?”

“These special days are meant to remind people of various issues. For example, World Health Day is meant to remind everyone that health is one thing you should not take for granted. We also have Water Day which is a reminder that we should conserve water, a commodity that is becoming scarce and, therefore, pricey. We also have Mother’s Day which is a day kept aside for mothers the world over. Children celebrate this day by sending their mothers gifts or taking her out for a meal or just telling her that they love her. We also have Children’s Day which falls every year on November 2 which is Chacha Nehru’s birthday.”

“Do people actually celebrate these special days?”

“A lot of people do. Mother’s Day, for example, is celebrated the world over.”

“Would we be around had it not been for mothers? I love that song you used to sing.”

“I know which one you’re talking about: It’s called Mother of Mine. I simply love that song.”

“Sing a snatch please.”

Mother of Mine

You gave to me

All of my life

To do as I please

Without your arms

Where would I be

Mother, sweet mother of mine…

“I love the way you sing it. Now take a bow.”
