Of Course. From the day he made an entry and onwards, he’s only brought joy and entertainment to our lives.

But he’s also very naughty!

Naughtiness that keeps him and all of us occupied and amazed. Did you see what he was doing this morning?

Yes. I had to sit on the floor, despite my creaky old knees, and tape a video.

I also notice that he’s a toy for the family!

Absolutely. Have you watched him play with his reflection in the mirror? It’s hilarious.

I have also noticed how he drops small objects from tabletops and goes for them as if they were playing objects! He hits them with one paw, runs behind them before hitting them again with the other paw.

No wonder we call him Messi!

The name Messi is just right for him.

I also believe strongly that God moves amidst us and silently watches us and takes action.

What I am trying to explain is that after I fell headlong into depression, recovered and fell into it once again, I believe he saw me struggling and brought me out of it once again. Now that I am in a great space and to make sure that I don’t go back into that hellhole, he sent Messi my way so he can keep me on my toes and keep me entertained. Do you follow me now?

I understand. What you are trying to say is that with Messi’s entry into your life, you have no time left to think of unpleasant things and be lonely because he keeps you busy with his naughtiness and his antics!

You’ve got it right. And I have God to thank for this.

A message for all those struggling with depression is to adopt a stray dog or cat and is actually a, what I’d like to call it, a double benefit because the stray gets a home and you get the entertainment and love.

Such wise advice…even if you’re not a patient of depression, please adopt. They only bring love and joy into our lives and don’t expect anything in return…

  I mentioned patients of depression to give a cue to the healthy–mentally and physically– to go ahead and adopt strays, be it a cat, a dog or even a bird because of the joy, love and oodles of laughter they bring to humans.

I have 3 cats ma’am and I can tell you this, I will be adopting many more. They are hassle free and have no demands…and the best part is when they cuddle into the warmth of our body and fall asleep…but have you ever tried giving a cat a bath?? you will be scratched black and blue!

  Yes, I have been scratched brutally by the first cat we adopted when I ventured to bathe him. When I failed, I got a guy from the vet to come and do this task. You won’t believe this but our cat would preempt this and go and hide under our pool table where it would be impossible to reach him. We had to entice him with his plate of fish to be able to get him out of his hideout.

A friend of mine has a dog and a cat…all these theories about how dogs and cats don’t get along, went out of the window when I went over and saw the 2 of them playing! The dog was chasing the cat around the house (he got in a lot of exercise) and the cat was having great fun giving him the chase. It’s a myth that they don’t get along.

  At one time, we had three huge dogs and a cat and they got of famously and, like your friend’s pets, our cat would race from one chair to the other round our circular dining table with all three dogs chasing him round and round. We stopped taking our dogs for their daily dose of exercise as they were already being exercised by our cat!

this video had me and my family in splits! it is sooooooo funny! cats are like stand up comedians…they can make you laugh through their every antic without realising it….maybe it’s time to adopt one. i haven’t so far because i know it’s a responsibility that i will have to take up eventually. my husband is out at work and the kids have school. but nevertheless, i will talk to my family.

hi aunty, my mother is asking if we adopt a cat, will they eat veg food? we are strictly veg and no non veg is allowed into our house.

  The truth is once your pet is hungry, he or she will eat anything you give him. Besides, I’m sure you get vegetarian packaged food for cats: Feed him that. Tell your mother that adopting a pet–any pet–will transform her life and the lives of her family into a happier and healthier one.

You have dogs and cats author? Is that a problem? We have a dog and till now we haven’t taken in a cat because we were always told that they don’t get along and there could be violent fights…my son has been asking for a cat for his last 3 birthdays and i haven’t gifted him one yet…maybe i could surprise him with one this year…

  Take it from me, dogs and cats get on famously. We’ve adopted them a couple of times and there’s been no problem whatsoever. Therefore, go right ahead and gift your son a cat on his next birthday. It’ll bring a lot more joy to your family.
