Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head | Flash Post 365

Button, a very favourite song of mine is Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head. It was written way back in 1969 by Hal David and Burt Bacharach for the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It also won an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Why is it so special?

It’s special because, this morning, as I stepped out on our garden, I was not only greeted by our lordship, Messi, who lay sprawled out gazing at the skies but by raindrops falling on my head. Looking skywards, I thanked the rain gods and prayed for a good and timely monsoon.

Are you telling me it rained this morning?

I am.

Why did you not call me out?

I didn’t because I was revelling in the fact that I was one of the chosen ones to be blessed by the first drops of rain this year.

Can you, at least, sing the song for me please?

I sang this song in my school singing competition and won the 3rd prize for it…thank you for sharing it here author..very nostalgic. I had no idea it was from Butch Cassidy although I haven’t watched the film yet but I know it’s a classic. Paul Newman right?

  It’s a beautiful song from a beautiful film and you must watch this classic. Paul Newman played Butch Cassidy while Robert Redford played the Sundance kid.

Finally it’s that time of the year when I can actually play this song! It’s been such a hot summer that I wouldn’t mind a few raindrops on my head…infact all over my body!

  That morning when the first raindrops fell on my head, this is the first song that came to my mind and I hummed it softly.

Yes, I agree…I have been praying to the weather gods everyday to take away this heat and bring down some rain…but think about the fact that we still have the luxury of air conditioning…what about all those street animals and people who live on the streets or in homes without ACs? this summer must have really hit them bad…

  My maid of 10 years was telling me that every time it rains in her village, the electricity goes off and she and her family spend night after night in darkness as well as in the sweltering heat. While we have the luxury of air conditioning, human beings just like us don’t even get the privilege of having a running fan in their homes.

This song makes me so nostalgic…when my wife and I started dating, during the monsoons we used to go for long drives and play songs like these…those were the times…now if I have to go for a romantic drive, I have to be prepared to get stuck in traffic for 3 hours atleast!

  You are so right. I think long drives are a thing of the past. Traffic congestion, bad roads and road rage are some of the factors that have brought that pleasure to a standstill.
