Button, you must have read the news about the young 7-year old girl living in a shanty on the pavements of GTB Nagar who has been shackled to her bed day and night because her mother fears she could well be a victim of rape following the kidnapping, rape and murder of a 5 year old girl in Mahim?

I’ve seen the photographs in the mid-day and have read the story too. It’s shameful. And sad.

This is PM Modi’s government for you where “Beti bachao, beti padhao” is one more slogan in a stable of other slogans like “Make in India”, “Pehle Shauchalaya, Phir Devalaya”, “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” which have hardly taken off!

Her parents have also taken her out of school and, because, she’s a sprightly little kid made her sit at home so they can keep a close watch over her.

It’s very sad because a seven-year old would want to play and run wild with her kin and friends but there are no parks left and, it’s unlikely she’d have access to an iPad that rich brats do, to have some fun. Do you understand the extent of fear in her parents’ minds where they have been literally pushed to a wall to make her a prisoner in her own home?

No parent would like to do that unless they are terrified!

Absolutely. It would have been nice if our PM had framed just a few slogans and seen them materialise rather than framing dozens and hardly have any take off.

There is nothing wrong with what the PM Modi has framed madam…it is only with good intention. You can see from the attacks he has launched in Balakote last night that he knows what he is doing. It is the citizens who don’t follow it up with good action. Let me spin the question on you…what have you done for swachh Bharat or for Make In India? I’m 100% sure you still buy and consume imported goods and not indigenous ones..!

on one hand we have blogs like this and on the other, we have blogs like the last one you wrote ma’am about four more shots pls and how it is a reflection of current generation of women…look at the irony of it…so many different Indias in one India…on one hand we have to lock our girl child up because of all the predators out there and on the other we have women like in the show who find the courage to live on their own terms…such dichotomy in one lifetime

My dear Rohan,

Like you rightly said there are so many Indias within one India. In one India, girls are locked up to keep them away from human predators which is shameful while, on the other hand, shows like 4MSP are made portraying strong women living their lives on their own terms. But then, such is the dichotomy of life unless young girls can break those chains some day and build a life for themselves on their own terms.
