October 9. “Button, shall we write a book?”
“On what?”
“On the lessons we learn from man’s best friend.”
“I don’t understand!”
“I saw Rani and Mowgli fall asleep immediately after lunch.”
“And?”
“We’ve been told all along how we should not go to bed immediately after meals. I also remember hearing that we should ideally go for a walk or even sit up but never lie down or go to sleep.”
“What you are telling me is that going to sleep after meals is a healthy habit!”
“Simply because blood rushes to our stomachs to break down the food particles and digest it. Any other activity would make the blood rush to that spot and not to the stomach where it is needed for digestion. This hampers digestion and gives rise to acidity, bloating and uneasiness.”
“That’s simple enough to understand.”
“This is Lesson No 1 learnt from our four-legged friends.”
