November 4. “Button, there’s good news.”

“What? Are you going to share it with me?”

“Why else would I tell you there’s good news if I didn’t want to share it with you!”

“So tell me quickly.”

“That impatient, are you? Well, a film of ours has won the best film award at the New York Film Festival. I am told there were 20 other feature films, including some recent releases, which has flopped miserably at the box office here and some other big-budget movies plus documentaries but our film beat them all.”

“Grand. Look at Paranormal Activity. The film was made for a paltry Rs 6 or 7 lac and grossed 300 crore and is still going great guns expecting to cross 500 crore. Our company should make such movies!”

“It’s easier said than done. If it was that easy, all production houses would make movies that work. But, suddenly, something works and breaks all records. There is no formula for a successful movie. Nobody knows yet what works and what doesn’t!”

“Is that so?”

“Now pray that the film does well when it releases in December worldwide.”

“I’ll do my bit.”
