May 31. “I notice that Rani speaks with you in a very funny language every time you return home.”
“It does sound funny, Button, but that’s the way she communicates. And it’s not only with me. She talks in that manner with each one of us.”
“Don’t you feel at times that it would be wonderful if we understood their language?”
“There is a foreigner who was in Delhi some time back who claims she understands what our four-legged friends speak. In fact, I had plans of going to Delhi when she had one of her workshops.”
“There are so many languages worldwide. We understand some. We speak some. Why can’t we have a curriculum that teaches animal language?”
“That could be interesting.”
“What did you make out from what Rani said to you today?”
“I think she said—I missed you. When she turned on her back and exposed her stomach, it meant she trusts me implicitly and wanted me to scratch the most sensitive part of her body. She may have also said—Don’t leave alone so often.”
