July 13. “Why is Rani so possessive about Dost?”

“I guess because she’s had a very insecure past and after having been abandoned and tortured, Dost is the one person she feels secure with.”

“Why does she hate Kailash?”

“I guess because she sees him so close to Dost, she feels he’s taking her place.”

“Has she been like that from the beginning?”

“Always about Dost. She used to protect him the same way when she was staying in the bungalow with him in Delhi. Food would be given to her either in the room or just outside. She would move out of the room only when Dost went out.”

‘Is she possessive about anyone else?”

“A friend of ours, told me something very interesting a couple of days back. He told me that pets behave in a manner identical to their master. If the household is quiet and peaceful, the pet is quiet and peaceful but if the household is boisterous and loud, the pet tends to be boisterous and loud.”

“In other words, this is a loud and boisterous home!”

“Maybe. It’s a home where the four of us do everything passionately. It’s not a morgue, you know.”

“Why don’t you play music more often? I have heard that music soothes their nerves and they bark less.”

“I’ve heard that one too. I must try it out. Apparently dogs love music by Bach.”
