January 4. “Button, I distinctly got the smell of fish from you when I gave you that tight hug this morning! Did you eat fish early in the morning?”

“That’s what all bears eat. And we don’t cook them the way you do. Did the three of you go out last evening?”

“It was a ladies evening out. The three of us went to the mall, walked around, shopped a little, had dinner and came back.”

“So this is what you do when sir is away!”

“But there’s nothing wrong with a mother going out with her daughters!  I also heard Fluffy screeching away this morning around 7. Was he conversing with you?”

“You’re absolutely right—but how did you know it was Fluffy and not some other kite?”

“Fluffy has that screechy long-drawn call and I can tell it’s him.”

“He was on vacation with his family and came to tell me he’s back. He wants to take me out flying one of these days.”

“That should be thrilling. Like Superman? Did he mention when?”

“Tomorrow. I am so excited.”
