Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

January 20. “Button, DNA reported today that pigeons were used by criminals to smuggle drugs into a prison in the northern Colombian city of Bucaramanga.

Bucaramanga police commander, Jose Mendoza, said that the pigeon carrying 40 grams of marijuana and 5 grams of bazuco which is a cheap mix of cocaine and other substances collapsed and fell to the ground as the weight of the drugs that was tied under its wings was too heavy and tired the bird out. The pigeon was thereafter arrested!”

“What good will it do arresting a pigeon! The bird will not be able to give them any information!”

“It’s silly.”

“Weren’t pigeons used as messengers in olden times?”

“You’re absolutely right. From being messengers to drug transporters is a sorry tale. It is so clever of drug peddlers to cook up this whole plan.”

“Do you recall that song in Maine Pyar Kiya which went Kabootar Ja Ja Ja—picturised on Salman Khan and Bhagyasree where the pigeon was used as a messenger to carry messages between the two lovers?”

“I recall. Pigeons are anyways a symbol of peace. To use them as drug peddlers is shameful.”

P.S. I know it’s didi’s birthday tomorrow. Like the rest of the family I have already wished her, hugged her and eaten a huge chuck of her birthday cake.
