“Button, what do you think this is? A bird? A plane…?
This photo was captured by Leesa Willmott on her smart phone camera and is actually a fallstreak formed in the sky over Wonthaggi in Australia. This bizarre sight was seen on Monday in the town near Melbourne. Adam Conroy, forecaster for Bureau of Meteorology said fallstreak holes are seen when a section of the cloud freezes high up in the sky. Since ice is heavy, crystals fall off leaving a gaping hole in the sky.
This is a relatively rare phenomenon.”
