Button, A strange incident took place when chotididi and I went out to feed our pariah kids.

Tell me and our readers what happened?

You are aware, Button, that we are cautious especially when we feed four of them at Mahalaxmi as a brown dog bit me about a month back.

I am aware.

When we got down to feed them, a brown pariah came up to us who was called away by didi first and fed quite some distance away while I hurriedly went into the Ghetto lane where three more live and fed them as well. After we had fed all four and climbed back into the vehicle, didi asked me to turn to my left and look at the visitor outside and, as I turned, I saw a similar looking brown pariah staring straight at me, eyes ajar and huge tongue lolling out! For a split second, after getting seriously jolted, we drove away after he had climbed down and gone back to eating his meal.

Do you think it was him?

Could be! I wonder if he had surfaced once again to apologise or to say thank-you because we had brought him some food? Or had he come to take another chunk of meat out of my leg!

I would like to give him the benefit of doubt that the incident was an accident and you just happened to come in-between his fight with Julie over food. Maybe his intention was never to bite. When he climbed on to the side of the vehicle where you sit staring you in the eye, it could be that he had come to say sorry as well as thank you for feeding him.
