Button, I must have been a princess in my past life.

Did I hear right? Come again, please. What did you just say?

I said, I must have been a princess in my past life.

May I ask why you feel that way?

This morning, as I was walking around the house bare feet, I felt discomfort under one foot which made it difficult for me to walk. I immediately sat down to check if something sharp had pierced the sole. And, true enough, close to the point of discomfort and itchiness, I found one of MoJo’s hair glistening in the light. I immediately pulled it out and found relief.

I will tell you a story that just came to mind. It’s called The Princess and the Pea and the author is Hans Christian Anderson.

Tell me.

A prince once went out to find for himself a real princess to marry. He travelled far and wide but returned home sad as his search did not yield any result.

One night, as a storm raged outside, they heard a knock on the door. The king opened the door to find a pretty little girl standing outside completely drenched. She said she was a real princess and could she, please, come in?

The King and the queen mother invited her into their home and thought they’d put her to the test and find out if she was what she was claiming to be–a real princess.

The queen mother went into the bedroom where she would spend the night and placed a tiny pea under ten mattresses on which she would sleep.

The next morning, the princess complained that she had not slept a wink the previous night.

Why? Asked the queen mother.

Because I found something hard beneath the mattresses and my whole body is bruised.

The family immediately understood that she was, indeed, a true blue princess and the prince married her and they lived happily ever after.

Wow. Thank you for narrating the story so beautifully. Doesn’t it confirm that I, too, may have been a princess in my past life?
