Button, remember me telling you about how clever crows are?

I do. I also remember the story you told me about the crow and the water pitcher.

Well, on my way back home today, at a traffic signal where the vehicle waited for the lights to change, I saw this crow sipping water through a gap in the cover placed over a plastic tub of water. She took a gulp, raised her head upwards and threw the water back inside.  The family sitting closeby were oblivious to what was happening not very far from where they were squatting talking and merrily laughing amongst themselves because I noticed a young boy from this group helping himself to a drink of water from the same tub. The crow, in the meantime, flew atop a railing where, perhaps, this same family had neatly folded and kept some washed clothes, wiped his beak on it–also regurgitating some of the water in the process– before going back to the same bowl to drink some more water. And then she, to my surprise, snatched a pav from the hands of that same young boy and flew away!

I don’t see Caw these days! Does he not come by anymore?

Of-course he does. Only a few days back Dost fed him some bread. He came accompanied by his mistress,  CawMate. Or was it some other lady, I wonder!

I also admire the road-side squatters, the musafirs, who are excellent caretakers of animals living on the streets as well as other wanderlusts like birds.
