Button, when barididi said she loved the cheese sandwiches chotididi made for her with the edges intact as she found it nice and crusty, I realised how silly I had been trimming off the crusty sides all these years! Or was I? Aren’t sandwiches meant to be made with the freshest and softest bread so, when you bite into them, they succumb easily without the slightest trace of having to tear into them?

Be it in hotels as well as the pre-packaged sandwiches one can buy off shelves…sandwiches I have eaten have usually been made without the crusty edges and I like mine that way– soft and easy.

But I love the hard crust of fruit cakes, scones…the crustier, the better.

That reminds me– barididi hasn’t made her signature dry fruit cakes and scones in a while. Must remind her about it.

Watch your tummy first.
