Flash Post 109!

“Button, did you watch the game of Scrabble the four of us played after breakfast today?”

“I did.”

“Did you understand the way the game is played?”

“Quite a bit, I must say but, I’ll get the hang of it after I actually play the game myself. But what was it that barididi did which you all went berserk over! I saw all of you show surprise and all of you looked aghast!”

“When barididi had played Scrabble earlier, she had played with a Scrabble board that had alphabets printed on one side and a hollow non-alphabetic side on the other. Since we were playing with a different Scrabble board, she didn’t feel the hollow on one side and, absent-mindedly, placed the even-sided squares face-up thinking that the opposite side was the hollow non-alphabetic side when that side was also even and had the alphabet printed on that face! Once in-between when she showed me her hand and cribbed for having picked 6 plain non-alphabetic squares, I had shown surprise and told her that, as far as I remembered the game, there was never those many blanks! She had, of course, brushed me aside at that point! She continued to play the game, complaining to be in possession of more blanks than alphabets and vowels till chotididi discovered what was actually happening! A lot of the words she had made earlier were flipped to reveal all the alphabets and vowels she could have used when she had actually coined words using blanks! Surprisingly, she even managed to win the game!”

“I guess I’ll have to play the game to learn the finer points. Will you help me by playing with me?”

“Anytime, Button. I also happen to love the game.”
