December 8. “Button, has it struck you that we’ve come a full circle?
Let’s go back a year and find out what the weather was like around the same time.”
“Let’s do that.”
“It actually turned pleasant a little later, around December 18.”
“But it’s natural for the weather to turn cold now. Isn’t it winter?”
“It is but Mumbai doesn’t have any winter! All it experiences is a killer summer and the monsoons!”
“Do you miss winter?”
“I do. Very much. Coming from Kolkata where all three seasons were strung beautifully one after another where summer was followed by monsoon and then winter. I still remember how I carried the children’s woolens when I arrived here from Kolkata and had to give them all away as they were never used and the children outgrew them after a point of time! Bears don’t wear woolens, do they?”
“No. Never.”
“Don’t polar bears feel cold living in that icy climate?”
“Their bodies are conditioned to stand the cold. Anyways, the ice is slowly melting. I wonder how they will survive! Does that mean that polar bears will go extinct like the dinosaur?”
“They may even mutate!”
