Dear Readers, you may notice the dates of the Blog do not match the Flash Post dates which are in real time. The blog was written in 2009 and saw the light of day 6 months back when my younger daughter discovered it and decided to bring it to you here.

Chaddi Chor | Flash Post 321

Button, wake up. We’ve slumbered for far too long. Our last post has 52 comments from readers who are asking why we have disappeared on them and why we have taken a break from writing our posts.

Let’s do it then. Let’s get back to writing our posts that garner for us so much love, concern and understanding. I see you have something in mind from the headline already. Are you sure you want to write on chaddis for our first post after the long gap of silence?

Let’s get them laughing after our maun vrat.

Come again. What does maun vrat mean?

It means complete silence, not uttering a word.

Let’s break that maun vrat for our readers and get them reading, participating and commenting on our blog posts once again.

Now, do you know why I have given this post the headline CHADDI CHOR?

Tell me. Tell our readers.

I have never understood why people are possessive of certain material things! Like Dost, for instance, is possessive about a pair of scissors and does not let it out of sight even for a minute. I actually have to take his permission to use it and, after I have used it, I am told where exactly I should place it.

Don’t we all have something or the other we are possessive of?

But a pair of scissors? I also know of this lady whose husband is madly possessive about his underpants or his chaddis.

Really?

He actually spots if one of his chaddis is missing and hauls up his wife for that missing pair of garment. He feels that one of the maids steals the one she fancies for her husband or grown-up son.

You can’t be serious!

I am. In fact, the wife got so fed-up about this constant complaint that she decided to wash his chaddis herself, dry them and put them back neatly on his CHADDI shelf.

Does he complain after she’s been doing this?

Not once. The complaints have stopped entirely.

One spot of correction here. I know of people who are possessive about hair brushes, of their shoe collection, their handbags… Honestly, aren’t you possessive of anything at all?

Maybe I am but nothing comes to mind immediately.
