February 2. “Now tell me the truth, Button”
“What?”
“When did you come back from the party last night?”
“What?”
“When did you come back from the party last night?”
“I liked the way the show started but after Paa went and the ordinary couples came in to play the game, it suddenly went kaput.”
I am often stuck for ideas, not knowing what I should talk to you about but something or the other comes to mind and we’ve successfully talked for almost five months now.”
“Why Button?”
“You couldn’t have forgotten! It’s sir’s birthday tomorrow.”
“No. But why are you suddenly talking about the Gayatri Mantra?”
“I’ve been told to chant it by Shri Shikre. He’s an astrologer and, when I saw him the first time, I was shocked.”
“Button, Star Movies aired a movie called Ted this morning and, had I known earlier, I would have sent you this post informing you about it. It’s very similar to our story…”
“Button, I suddenly felt nostalgic about the first song I picked up from FM at the age of 17 or 18! I did it to sing the song to Dost who was dating me then. The song was called Paper Roses and sung by Marie Osmond. The lyrics of the song didn’t hold true for us but, somehow I just loved it and, it gave me a chance to flaunt my mediocre singing talent to him.”
“No, I haven’t but I’ve heard the other version sung by Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Jasraj and a lot of others but not this one.”
“My hair stands on edge every time I hear the song and I can’t help but sing along. They had stopped playing the anthem in cinema halls because people didn’t give it due respect but it is being played once again.”
“I’m obviously here to talk to you a bit and then go to bed.”
“Why are you so late? Did you go somewhere?”
